Girls Night Out

Girls Night Out
in Olney!

Well it's the end of term, it definitely feels like time for a holiday, but before we all go our separate ways let's get together.
It will be the first time for some of you and sadly the last time for others (now the children are starting big school)

We are meeting at The Bull
8.00pm Friday 16th July

If you know anyone with young children who'd like to come along then spread the word.

Everyone is welcome!

Barnardo's Big Toddle

Thanks to everyone for supporting this year's Big Toddle held last week - it was great! Good to see so many Mums (& Dads too) coming along to support their little Pre-School 'pirates' as they walked, ran, climbed, crawled and skipped their way round the route. Although it was a bit chilly at times, we were lucky that it was dry and the sun came out in the end... a nice touch to have a picnic on the playground at the end.
We will let everyone know how much money we raised for Barnardo's & Pre-School in due course - if you've still got sponsorship forms & money to hand in, just pass it on to Samara please.

Wonder what the theme will be for next year?...

Sports Day

Don't forget Sports Day - Wednesday 7th July - the children are all starting to practice and seem to be having lots of fun with beanbags, walking backwards, ropes & running...I can't wait to see how they all get on!

All parents & families very welcome to come to watch that morning at 11am. There are generally some races for Mums & Dads too - so be prepared! (Discreet practising may be needed at home first).

Stoke Goldington Steam Rally – 8th/9th May 2010

Once again the Pre-School were on hand to welcome everyone to the annual Steam Rally dressed as Stokie Bear and handing out balloons to all the children ... and even some of the adults not ready to grow up just yet!

Saturday brought rain but our spirits weren’t dampened as we all fought to wear the bear suit to keep warm! The bear head proved a good method for defrosting some chilled little ears.

We greeted hundreds of visitors to the Rally and also sold over 100 sunflower seeds for our Annual Sunflower Competition. The highlight of the day for some was returning the mobility scooters hired out at the Rally to their lockup for the night .... as I said before, some adults just never grow up!

Summer Fun Day 2009 (Events Archive)

We had a wonderful turn out for the Stoke Goldington fun day. This is a fabulous way to support the preschool, either by helping out or by turning up and joining in the fun. There are lots of stalls including home produce. With excellent cakes and jams, home grown veg and plants.

Guess the weight of the sheep, smash a plate stall and lots of children’s activities and of course a bouncy castle.

All ending with the much anticipated girls v guys tug of war, and duck race (although next year we may need a bit more rain to fill the stream)

A great time was had by all.

Barnado's Big Toddle 2009 (Events Archive)

Once again the sun shone on us all for this year’s Big Toddle held on Wednesday 24th June 2009. The half mile toddle kicked off at 10.15am as the children broke through the starting line in the Pre-School outdoor play area and onto the playing field to encounter obstacles and activities en route. These included scaling our new wooden climbing frame, walking on ‘monster feet’ stilts, leaping through hula hoops and aiming beanbags at targets. Of course, the adults had to have a go too!

Over £250 has been raised so far through for Barnardo’s and a further £80 donated towards the Pre-School’s new gardening area which will be created in the next few months to add to the children’s curricular activities. We are hoping to grow spring bulbs and maybe even a few vegetables to eat at snack time. What a heathly Pre-School we are!

Stoke Goldington Mums and Tots joined the Pre-School children on the day with over twenty under 5’s taking part in their pyjamas. The route took them around the playing field and along the village High Street before crossing the finish line in the local play area for a well earned picnic and ice cream. Everyone who took part received their Big Toddle medal and certificates with proud smiles of achievement.

Car Rally Treasure Hunt 2009 (Events Archive)

Pre-School enjoyed one of its more unusual fund-raisers in June which took the form of a Car Rally Treasure Hunt. Eight families set off by car on a 39-mile route with loads of clues to answer along the way, photos to identify and fun items for both the grown-ups and the children to collect, ranging from a traffic cone to a twig! Luckily everyone made it successfully back to the starting point, although some were in need of the BBQ & refreshments at the end more than others. One team clocked up an impressive 70 miles finding their way round the route, whilst another team took 4 hours to complete the 1-hr 50-minute task! After some well-deserved liquid refreshments, the answers were revealed and prizes awarded to the top three teams. The event raised £150 for Pre-School funds.

Country Show 2009 (Events Archive)

Pre-School was really pleased to support the Milton Keynes Country Show at the end of May at Hill Farm, Haversham. Some of the Pre-School Mums took a stand offering face painting to the younger show visitors….and judging by the amount of beaming little smiles behind painted faces it was a huge success! Designs ranged from pretty glittery butterflies to scary tigers, colourful flowers to cute cats. The stand took just over £100 during the day.

Following success at the Country Show the Pre-School face painting team also took a stand at the Olney Rugby Club 7’s event in July. Watch this space for other events we may be attending!

Pre-School Open Day 2009 (Events Archive)

Here is a photo of our spacious pre-school ready to receive our visitors for our Open morning.

The morning was a great success and the children looking around were keen to join in with the activities on offer.

We will be holding another similar event in the near future.

Steam Rally 2009 (Events Archive)

This annual must not miss event for the whole family was as wonderful as ever. We had lovely hot and sunny weather this year. Preschool helped with a welcoming Stokie Bear and gave out balloons to all the children.

There were sunflower seeds sold to help raise funds and we eagerly wait to read in the Gate Group News which green fingered child wins the competition for the tallest one.

The Steam Rally is a lot of fun, see you all there next year.

St George's Day 2009 (Events Archive)

St. George’s Day was celebrated in style by Pre-School with parents attending a fantastic ‘Last Night of the Proms’ event at local Ravenstone Church.

Guests donned black tie to enjoy pre-concert drinks and canapés outside the Church before taking their pews to listen to some wonderful music and well-known Proms titles from a local orchestra. There was some rousing participation for the popular Proms classics such as ‘Land of Hope & Glory’ and ‘Rule Britannia,’ with much flag-waving and eager participation! The Royal Albert Hall is next on the list!

A raffle during the evening raised £500 for Pre-School funds which was very much appreciated and our thanks were expressed to Ravenstone Parochial Church Council for all their support.

Girls Night Out 2009 (Events Archive)

Hi everyone,

Well it’s Spring at last!

Time to wash those curtains, clean those cupboards, dust those shelves or better still ….

…. ditch the housework and come for a drink with the Pre-School mums at The Lamb pub, Stoke Goldington, 8pm on Thursday 2nd April.

It would be great to see you and meet any new mums in the area too. So if you know anyone with young children who’d like to come along then spread the word.

Everyone is welcome!

See you there,

Update.

We all had a great night out. Which was well deserved! There was lots of nattering and quite a few giggles. It was lovely to see some old faces and to meet some new ones.

Looking forward to the next one............
